Dear all,

as chairman of the ICSE (Int. Committee of Solvent Extraction) I want to focus your attention at ISEC 22 in Göteborg, Sweden (26.9.-1.10.2022). The congress scheduled at 2020 was twice delayed because of COVID-19. Vital dates and facts you can find at https://www.isec2022.com/. Also new nominations for the Carl Hanson medal and ISEC Award are possible (see http://www.solventextract.org/) and all nominations in 2020 are still valid.

I look forward to meet you at ISEC22.

Best regards

Prof. Hans-Jörg Bart

(Chairman ICSE)

  • Nominations shall be made to the Secretary of the ICSE until 8 months prior to the upcoming conference.
    • Notices announcing the Award shall be placed by the ICSE Secretary in appropriate journals, e.g. Solvent Extraction and Ion Exchange, Hydrometallurgy, and web-sites. The joint sponsorship of the Award, the Society of Chemical Industry and Dechema shall also be informed and requested to include the information in their literature. It is also appropriate that notice of the Award shall be included in all literature related to the next ISEC.
  • Nominations shall be in writing and must consist of the following documents:

The „International Scientific Committee” was represented by the members of the “International Committee for Solvent Extraction (ICSE)” and the “Local Organizing Committee” was represented by the members of the German ProcessNet Working Party “Extraktion” (http://www.processnet.org/Extraktion.html). Both together with the “Technical Committee” reviewed the papers for the proceedings with the decision to be either in an oral or a poster session. The review forms contained the topics “Within the scope of ISEC”, “Suitable for oral”, “Maybe oral”, “Poster presentation”, “Should be rejected (Revision) and “Comment”.

The call for papers was made in September 2011 and the time schedule and flyer is also in the appendix. It was focused on nine traditional topics and three special topics (s. attachments) with the latter three in respect to the specific research interests of European industry and academia. All together brought an interesting mixture and fruitful discussions and was helpful to broaden the activities of the solvent extraction community. In respect to this it was also emphasized from the ICSE, that the topic “oil and gas” should be an issue in the next ISEC conferences.

All evaluations were overviewed by the conference chair with the individual reviewers and a task force of Read more

The 20th International Solvent Extraction Conference ISEC 2014 will be held in Würzburg, Germany from 8-12 September 2014. The conference organiser’s webpage is http://events.dechema.de/isec2014

A flyer can be found at http://www.solventextract.org/documents/isec2014.pdf.

The International Solvent Extraction Conferences have been and continue to be a major gathering of scientists, engineers, operators and vendors from around the world, who present new findings since the last meeting, exchange ideas, make business contacts, and conduct collegial discussions.

As to that the topics of the last 19th ISEC 2011 in Santiago, Chile, were:

  • Industrial practices and new projects
  • Hydrometallurgy and metals extractions
  • Nuclear fuel reprocessing
  • Process chemistry and engineering
  • Analytical and preparative applications
  • Biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, life science products and organic products
  • Fundamentals
  • Novel reagents, materials and techniques.
